Archbishop Sentamu Academy

We are supporting a communion lunch club run by the school chaplain Anne Richards at Archbishop Sentamu Academy once a week. 25-30 students come to participate in a stimulating and thought provoking time, during which bread and wine become a safe haven, for young people often rattled by challenging circumstances in their family life.

Anne also offers the chapel as a place for some SOZO training (SOZO means to save, make well or whole, heal and preserve, deliver) and has invited us to participate. The aim is to learn tools to help young people find freedom from a lot of the baggage caused by their difficult circumstances. The SOZO training is run by Priscilla Smith from a The Bridge Youth Project in Tadcaster and may open up a new dimension for a more pastoral approach to some of the work Label of Love does in schools.

We have been invited to take some RE 6th form enrichment lessons at Archbishop Sentamu Academy and are covering topics such as: God and His existence, violence, the meaning of life and death. In an interactive and engaging way we aim at make the young people think about these topics, voicing their own thoughts and challenging them to face the deeper questions of life.
